「get the boot」
英解︰be fired

中文常用「捲舖蓋走路」來比喻「被開除了」。英文則是用「從老闆那兒拿到靴子」來表示相同的意思，就是一腳把你踢開，叫你走路了。另外，也可以用「give sb. the boot」來表示「開除某人」。
被開除
She got the boot for showing up late to work too often.
她因為上班太常遲到而被開除。

被炒魷魚
Lately James looks nervous. I think he's scared that he's going to get the boot.
詹姆士最近看起來很緊張。我想他是害怕自己會被炒魷魚。

被炒魷魚
We have to obey the orders, or we'll get the boot.
我們必須遵守規定，不然會被炒魷魚。

被解僱
Who do you think will get the boot when the company lays off employees?

開除某人
Max thinks that his boss acted unfairly by giving him the boot.
