Signing up for Community College　社區大學初體驗-1

Jennifer:　I miss being a student so much. But I love my job, too.
Billy:　Well, you can’t have everything.
Jennifer:　Why not? I was thinking of taking some classes at a community college.
Billy:　What? That’s where all the 1)reject students are. Why would you want to do that?
Jennifer:　That’s simply not true. A lot of people go to community college to study what they are interested in… for fun.
Billy:　Study and fun, now that’s a 2)contradiction in itself.

B)
Jennifer:　Think about it. Didn’t you always want to study music? You could, at community college without worrying about grades.
Billy:　I never thought about it. I guess you’re right. Actually, I’d like to study Korean.
Jennifer:　There you go. And I’d like to study art and theater. A community college is the best place for that.

珍妮花：我好懷念當學生的日子喔。但我也熱愛我的工作。
比利：呵，魚與熊掌不可兼得。
珍妮花：為何不行？我在考慮要不要去社區大學上課。
比利：什麼？那是給申請不到學校的人去念的吧。你為何有這種念頭？
珍妮花：才沒那回事呢。很多人去社區大學修他們感興趣的課……純粹好玩。
比利：唸書和好玩，這兩點根本就互相矛盾。

B)
珍妮花：你想想看，你不是老是想學音樂嗎？你可以去社區大學上課，還不必擔心成績呢。
比利：這我倒沒想過，有道理。其實，我還蠻學韓文的。
珍妮花：這就對啦。我也想學藝術和戲劇。社區大學是學這些技能最好的地方。

1) reject student 可以指「成績較差」，或「申請大學時被許多學校拒絕」的學生。
Only the reject students end up in summer school.

2) contradiction (n.) 矛盾
It’s a contradiction to want to get married but not “settle down”
