After pioneering software that allows people to explore Earth in unprecedented detail, Google set its sights on mapping the moon. Now the popular Internet search engine wants to help send a robot there. Yesterday, the Mountain View, California-based company announced that it will sponsor a $30 million prize for the first privately funded lunar robotic rover.
"We are here today embarking upon this great adventure of having a nongovernmental, commercial organization return to the moon and explore," Google co-founder Sergey Brin said in a statement. "And I'm very excited that Google can play a part in it."

哈啦雙語週報 We All Scream for Ice Cream
線上收聽
Jung: It's so hot today!
Sam: Then let's go eat some ice cream! There's nothing like eating it in the summer.
Jung: But I'd rather eat shaved ice. I like eating mango and milk shaved ice in the summer.
Sam: What in the world is shaved ice?
Jung: There's a machine that shaves a block of ice, and then other ingredients like liquid sugar, candied fruits, beans, peanuts and condensed milk are mixed in. And the taste is out of this world!
Sam: It sounds delicious! But I don't see a shaved ice shop anywhere. I wish an ice cream truck would drive by.
Jung: Is that a truck made of ice cream?
Sam: No! In America it's a truck that's like a portable vender, and it plays a special song over a speaker.
Jung: Ha! Sounds like fun! Do you know about ice cream venders in Taiwan? They ride on bicycles and sell ice cream cones and popsicles. They honk a horn to get people's attention ... (horn sound)
Sam: Yeah! It's a Taiwanese ice cream man to the rescue!
Jung: Don't let him get away!

Faced with a damning list of a dozen violations in its biosafety labs, the president of Texas A&M University (TAMU) in College Station vowed today to correct the lapses, which range from unreported toxin exposures to improper protective gear. In a news conference, interim president Edward Davis also noted that any school subjected to the same scrutiny as TAMU "would probably have findings" revealing biosafety violations.

Jesse loved hip-hop1 and in his room, he had posters2 of his favorite rappers3 like Eminem and 50 Cent. One day he decided to work hard and see if he could be a rapper, too. He spent most of his free time writing raps down on paper. After a few months, he had enough of them to put an album together. Jesse then called his friend, DJ Gizmo, to help him record a demo4 CD. When the CD was finished, he handed it out to all of the record companies he could think of.

Nature Jupiter's protective pull questioned
Gas giant's role in preventing asteroid collisions under scrutiny.
For more than a decade many astronomers have thought of Jupiter as a protective big brother for planet Earth. The gas giant's gravitational pull is believed to slingshot incoming Earth-threatening objects out of the Solar System. This has led many to suppose it shielded the young Earth from impacts, helping to support conditions for life.
But now, a preliminary study indicates that Earth would have done just as well, if not better — in at least one regard - without Jupiter's help.
